Check what the size describes
Read whether the dimensions refer to a flat cover or a filled cushion. Compare them with an insert using the supplier's instructions, rather than automatically adding extra filling for a plumper appearance. Check the opening size as well as the square or rectangle itself. A narrow zip can make it difficult to insert a bulky cushion without straining the seam.
Look for a photograph of the filled product from the side. Corner shape, seam placement and the amount of filling affect how the illustration sits. A face printed near an edge may curve away when filled. If you are replacing a cover on an existing insert, measure the actual insert and note its shape instead of relying on a size remembered from an old order.
Consider the side you will touch
Read the fabric composition and examine the reverse. A decorative face may have a different texture from the back, and a zip or trim can sit where someone leans against it. Decide whether the cushion is intended mainly for display or everyday use on a seat. Ask for construction photographs if the listing shows only the artwork.
Check whether printing is on one side, both sides or repeated around the whole cover. Think about the room's other patterns and colours at the actual viewing distance. An enlarged close-up of the dog may conceal how small it appears on the complete cushion. Compare the whole object with the space where it will sit.
Plan the wash separately from the insert
Find the exact care instructions for cover and insert. Printful's decorated-product guidance varies by item; the label for your chosen cover is the relevant instruction. Check whether the zip must be closed and how the cover should be dried. Do not wash an insert with the cover simply because both arrived in one parcel.
Keep a note of the insert dimensions and selected cover so you can replace either component later. On arrival, inspect the zip and seams, then fit the insert carefully in a clean space. Retain packaging required by the return policy until the combination is checked. If the dog has access to the cushion, observe their interest and store it away if it becomes an object to pull apart.
